Staff Training
We are very committed here at Breach House to enabling our staff to gain the knowledge and skills they need to do their work well.
This is achieved by ensuring our own comprehensive induction programme is successfully completed by all our new staff. This includes formal training sessions and work-based practise alongside experienced senior staff members to enable them to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to deliver quality care to our own high standards.
Our existing staff also receive annual refresher training in all mandatory topics including First Aid, COSHH, Basic Food Hygiene, People Handling, Fire Safety, Infection Control, Health & Safety, Adult Safeguarding Procedures, Drug Administration and Bereavement. In addition we have staff who are trained in continence care, dementia care, foot care, person centred care and nutritional needs of the elderly.
We have three trained Fire Wardens on site, a qualified First Aider on every shift and are also currently undertaking the nationally recognised Gold Standards Framework in End of Life Care, which we hope will lead to accreditation in the near future.
We are very proud that all of our Care staff have an National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in Care at level 2 or above, which exceeds the statutory requirements of the Care Quality Commission, which is currently 50% or above. Our Kitchen Manager is also qualified to NVQ level 2 in Catering and holds his intermediate CIEH Food Hygiene certificate (and a 5* rating with Environmental Health for food hygiene).
